|Don Gugliuzza sets a high standard for business ethics and community service. Our organization continues to demonstrate its commitment to these values. The Mileo Group wears the indelible imprint of its founder, Don Gugliuzza, a leader in workforce development policy and training in Florida. He passed away in 2013, leaving a legacy of passionate commitment to ensuring that Florida's workforce is globally competitive for generations to come.
Don founded the Mileo Group with his wife Maryvonne Mileo in 2008 after his retirement from Tropicana-PepsiCo™. A 30-year veteran of manufacturing, Don gained diverse leadership experience at Tropicana™, Coca-Cola™ and Campbell's Soup Company™.
Recognizing an industry-wide demand for both standardized and customized training in a range of manufacturing processes, Don applied his team-building talents to assembling like-minded experts into a client-focused organization that would improve the manufacturing operations and develop employee talents for client companies in North America.
Beyond building a successful consulting company, Don was known as a dedicated public servant and leader in creating Florida's workforce of the future. Appointed to two terms as a Board Director of Workforce Florida Inc.™, Don chaired the group's Performance Committee, with responsibility for tracking performance by the state's 24 regional workforce boards. He also served on the WFI™ Finance Council, Strategy Council, and Growth Committee, where his manufacturing experience helped to redesign training for manufacturers in Florida and the United States. He also served on the board of his local workforce board.
In addition, Don served as Chair of the Florida Department of Education Workforce Curriculum Reform Committee for Manufacturing, was Advisory Council Vice Chair of the Employ Florida Banner Center for Manufacturing, and a Board Member of FLATE Industry Advisory Council. He was the MAF manufacturing representative on the National Science Foundation Visiting Committee with oversight of FLATE, and a Board Member of the Manufacturers Association of Florida where he chaired the Manufacturers Association of Florida Workforce and Education Committee.
In fact, Don's dedication to Florida's workforce development goals was so far-reaching, the WFI Board of Directors established the Don Gugliuzza Legacy Award, which honors WFI board members who have gone above and beyond board service and advanced positive change for Florida's workforce system.
In creating the award, WFI Board Chair Dwayne Ingram described Don as one of our most passionate board members in his commitment to driving positive change and ensuring excellence in Florida's workforce system. Don cared deeply about talent development, ensuring businesses have the skilled workforce they need to compete, and building a system where Florida's young people will have every opportunity to succeed in tomorrow's workforce. He often talked about his beautiful grand children and his desire to do all we can to provide pathways to success for future generations.
Today, the Mileo Group's leadership and associates continue to demonstrate his vision and values in their service to clients and the community.
